After: The Marathon du Médoc
Before I even try to explain it — the five-part vlog series captures this weekend better than words ever could.

Still, it’s hard to put into words just how wild, unpredictable, and unforgettable the Marathon du Médoc turned out to be — easily one of the best weekends of my life.
Friday night doesn’t get enough credit in most Médoc stories. The pasta party brought thousands of runners together under one buzzing tent, fuelled by wine, pasta, incredible cheese boards, and pure anticipation. The live music was electric, the dance floor was packed, and the excitement felt contagious. Chatting with volunteers — especially those who return every year — and meeting runners from all over the world (including a few fellow Aussies) made it feel like a global celebration before the race had even begun. Dancing to incredible live music and finishing the night with fireworks? A genuine 10/10 start.
Saturday was absolute chaos — in the best way. Seeing thousands of runners in outrageous costumes, bumping into the same people at different points across 42.2km, and sharing laughs mid-race made the distance feel surreal. One of my personal highlights was the on-course physiotherapy — yes, actual massage tables during the marathon. We used them twice mid-race and again after, and honestly, shoutout to the physios for getting me to the finish line. The wine was unreal… though by the end, it all tasted suspiciously similar.
Sunday wrapped things up perfectly. We missed most of the recovery walk (no surprises there), but the celebratory lunch delivered once again — amazing food, more wine, and one last chance to soak it all in with new friends.
A massive thank you to Joycey and Kent for being the best company imaginable. This was a weekend I’ll genuinely never forget. If you’re even considering the Marathon du Médoc, do it — but for me? One and done.
